DetoxifyU :: Boost Immunity

Colon Cleanse Cycle

DIRECTIONS
Focus intake on 'Best to Ingest' foods & liquids; utilize the Best Recipes.   Colon Cleanse for 3 to 10 days.
BENEFITS
· alleviate Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), diarrhea, constipation
· expel layers of unhealthy mucus that can line the intestine and colon walls
· rid the large intestine (which includes the colon) of old, stuck, putrefying impacted fecal matter
· restore the large intestine to a more optimal peristalsis (wave-like motion) to help expel wastes

· helps alleviate frequent headaches
BEST TO INGEST :: Colon Cleanse
● Water - 1/2 gallon a day is goal
● Fruits
· Apples
· Bananas
· Pears
· Dates
● Any fresh vegetable
● Garden Salads
● Sprouts (alfalfa, et al.)
● Seeds
· Flax
· Sunflower
· Pumpkin
· Hemp hearts
· Chia
● Nuts
● Prebiotics & Probiotics

RECOMMENDATIONS
length:
3 - 10 days
daily intake:
Ingest amounts that feel comfortable. Intake should be 75% or more of those foods & liquids listed in "Best to Ingest".
important:
As with all Cycles, there are foods to avoid. Avoid meats and processed foods (including breads, dairy products, pastas, cereals), as these are prone to irritate the colon.
exercise:
Exercise of some sort is helpful to pump the junk out your rump. Even a 10 minute walk or some stretching helps wastes move thru.
NOTABLE FOR CLEANSE
● Frequent headaches & acid reflux are two less obvious symptoms of a toxic colon.
● Clearing the colon clears the exit path, which improves the effectiveness of all detoxifying efforts.
● Temporary constipation or diarrhea may occur during a colon cleanse. This is normal.
● Getting fiber is easy in DetoxifyU Cycles because many highly alkaline foods -- vegetables and fruits -- are, structurally, very fibrous.
➜ Many marketed "great sources of fiber" should be avoided, such as whole grain breads & cereals & pastas & rice. These are all acid-forming and can irritate the colon, causing mucus to form. Mucus-formation is the opposite of the colon cleanse's goal.

Liquid-Fiber Drink
ingredients
● 1/2 c. ground Flax Seeds
● 1/2 c. Bentonite Clay Powder
● 2 tblsp ground psyllium husks (Metamucil is 100% psyllium)
· option: 2 or 3 tblsp Apple or Citrus pectin powder
instructions for dry fiber powder
♦ Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate.
instructions for drink
♦ Stir 1 to 1½ tblsp dry fiber powder into about 8 ozs of store-bought juice, extracted juice, water, or some other liquid.
♦ Drink plenty of water soon after Liquid-Fiber Drink; the fiber can cause constipation w/out abundant fluid intake.
notes
➜ Cheap store-bought juice with processed sugar is fine to use for this drink. The cleansing effect on the colon will not be affected.
➜ The powder will not easily dissolve in liquid, it often forms small lumps that are easily swallowed.
➜ If mixing powder with water, a splash of unsweetened cranberry juice concentrate or lemon or lime juice can add a bit of taste.

More To Say :: Colon Cleanse Cycle

Why Not Laxatives?
Frequent use of oral or suppository laxatives can ultimately cause the bowel to have problems contracting, therefore the Colon Cleanse does not rely on laxatives in any way. That said, prune juice can help with constipation, as can an herbal laxative called "Swiss Criss." Normally, recommending herbal complements is beyond the scope of DetoxifyU, but DetoxifyU has solid proof that "Swiss Criss" helps empty the large intestine. Laxatives of any kind should only be used every three or four days, and should not be treated as a long-term remedy.
Can the Colon Cleanse help with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?
Yes.
Can the Colon Cleanse help with diarrhea?
Yes.
Why is a Colon Cleanse Cycle suggested before the Kidney Cycle and Liver Cycle?
Cleaning out the colon helps restore a more optimal peristalsis (wave-like motion that moves matter thru colon), which helps, when doing any other Cycle, maintain a more effective exit path for all forms of toxins and solid waste.
What the heck is Bentonite Clay, and why would anyone ingest it?
Bentonite Clay is volcanic ash that has been documented to absorb toxins. Some forms of Bentonite Clay are ingestible. An excellent article on Bentonite Clay can be read here.

Gastrointestinal Tract Fun Facts

GI Tract = Mouth → Throat → Stomach → Small Intestine → Large Intestine (thru to Colon) → Anus → Exodus
Measurements:
• Small Intestine :: about 16-20' long, 1" (2.5cm) wide. Takes about 4-6 hours for food to move thru the Small Intestine
• Large Intestine :: about 5' long. The large intestine's parts: Ascending Colon, Transverse Colon, Descending Colon, Sigmoid Colon. The anus attaches to the Sigmoid Colon.
Shape :: tubular, with multiple angles and turns
Positioned :: center of the body, the hub of the body
Functions:
• Small Intestine :: Digestion and absorption of nutrients.
• Large Intestine :: Absorbs moisture from anything that is in it. Eliminates the wastes of the GI Trace, the Liver, and the Lymphatic System.
Interesting Fact :: Every person has a unique collection of good bacteria in the colon, sort of like a digestive fingerprint.
